Gilera Fuoco 500

If I have the money, and fulfilled all my financial obligations, this is something that I want in my garage. Gilera Fuoco 500 is a fun scooter. Just as fast as you want it to be and as comfort as a commuter should be.

I just that bored that day. As we decided to go for a new TTS location, I still think the fun of going is the journey itself. So I called up Mok, to try out his scooter what it felt to be on a three wheeler. He is always kind enough to give the assist.

Don't bother about the key chain. That is free.
When I got the key, I'm kinda impress on the key itself. It's look more a car's key than a bike's. But that's nothing special. Until I found out the seat are being open by the remote key. Hah! Fuel cap are to be open from here. There's a helmet sign almost on it, but I didn't explore the function.

Press on the button and I make believe the door is open.

The compartment are big. Technically, I didn't pour any water inside to see how many litres it could go. The info should be on Gilera website. It can hold a fullface helmet and Gong's most important finding, to hold a laptop. 17' still can go I think. Note the light in the compartment, very convenient as I when to the TTS that night.

Instrument panel is continental. Easy read even on bright daylight. Warning and monitoring light are highly noticeable. Two trip meter available and reminder for service also there.

The tricky fork locking module (I don't know what it's actually called) are left on the right handside. Once you master this mechanism, there's no need to put your feet on the ground even the scooter are stopped on the redlight. But it takes a while to get the use of it. I mean in just a few minutes.

Hazard light and pass button within reach. Horn needs to be upgrade. European doesn't like it loud. But here it's more like necessity.

492.7cc cubic engine produce enough power delivered to the rear wheel on the CVT automatic variable speed drive with torque assistance. You'll top up to 150km/h easy on this, more if you outspoken it for a while.

Looks like a bug. A lazy old caterpillar actually. But looks always are deceiving.

Remember there's three tyres to maintain here.

From this angle. It's just weird.

Exhaust sounds like a plain scooter. The tail may looks like a plain plastic, but it's really stiff.

Supercharger on board.
I'm teasing you!
Great built quality and finish.

The suspension works well. Cornering ability is outstanding. But you have to get use of the two wheels response.

I have no idea.

Comfort are well position sitting posture. You'll love to travel long hours on this scooter. Handbrake and all purpose gripper are located in the center. Yes... there's a handbrake. But don't try doing 180 with this okay.

While travel on the long hours, the seat are well design to get you comfy. Malaysia flag doesn't come as standard. That airbrush cost him about RM800 more. Hmm...

I love this Scooter, but as the price tag is RM45K, it should be for the market such as a car's lovers would get a Smart.

General Service at Mok Motor

My odo clock 10,000km today. To make things easier. I like to flush my oil every 5,000km. So remembering 5, 10, 15 is much more easier then 1, 5, 12, 18 or something. It'll be my second service and I insist on wanting to pour Mobil 1 again. I like it a lot, and save me some hundreds. :)

The tips is if you use semi-synthetic oil, do an oil change every 3,000km, but it can still last up to 5,000km. If you use fully-synthetic, do on every 5,000km, but you're still safe up to 8,000km. And do do an oil change when you feel you needed too. :)

Mok didn't carry Mobil 1. I think they should. It's cheaper than Motul. Just a few ringgit difference with Silkolene. I've write up how Mobil 1 performs again Motul 300V in a general way, but I'll get that study copy and post the challenge here one day. So I borrowed Mail kapcai and rode to Ah Meng's. Bought 4 bottles since the Zx10R will take 3.7l out of it, thats when the oil filter is change as well. I still cost RM48 and during the fuel hike, the price remains the same. Same old stock? Or does Motul take an advantage of the situation? Motul price when up twice this year!

During the NEC ride, I don't know when & where, I blow the rear tyre tin balancing away (not really sure what they called actually). So I ask them to balance back my tyre as well. I got spare time actually, so we left the bike cooled down and wait for the oil drip stops.

But I must say Motul still makes great oil. Motul Chainlube is an excellent lubricant for the chain but it's very sticky. But all the black oil that traps dust and sand clog up my sidestand and gearshift. I usually clean this myself with a gasoline and spray some WD40 then after.

Hahaha... Really forget the 300V untill the price is reasonable again. You should try this.

Sifoo Mail way are different. He feels. One of the best mechanic in town.

This is how they balance the tyre. An old fashion but proven method.

Previously they use the tin sticker. I request the clip type. It's more durable than the sticker version. The sticker glue doesn't hold that well, they need to have a heady duty version, but that would make it harder to peel off one day.

Motosikal Mok Superbike Shop

Fino had reviewed Ah Ming shop at Jalan Ipoh with most of members in the group comfortable with in the earlier post : fast, clean and good service. Mok Motor is another alternative for us, located at Wangsa Maju. It was introduce by Saiful ZX14 to me, and it's where I bought my ZX6R from, then Poji, then Eddy and Bedah. I've been here since then - Mat.

The shop is located Seksyen 2, Wangsa Maju to be precise. A crowded place at night for a teh tarik. But there's always spaces. Mok has been here quite a long time. Newly rebuild showroom upstairs and service works at the lower. Mok holds most of the superbike parts and the prices are very competitive among other shops. But don't take my word for it, do survey around first guys.

Here's the man, Mok. His 53 this year. I know little brief of his history, he's a used to be racer himself back in the old days. That experience come handy when maintaining a superbike. He's more to old school / mechanical stuff and know how to advise his customer well, and newbies like me learn great stuff from otais like him.

This is his son, Ah Wah. Know most of his ways around any bikes. Got good hand on the bike and handles them very well. Not much of a talker but always get the job done.

Mail is the otai mechanic. There is another mechanic Mat, who most of the time stays at the back of the shop. He sometimes rides to Awana too. I didn't have the opportunity to candid him in action. I overheard his mom pass away yesterday. Al-Fatihah.

Snap the new K8. The emboss silver R really put a wow factor in the machine. Gonna be hard choosing the new K8 or the all new ZX10R... (this is a tips here guys.)

One of Mail doing. I'm not interested enough to know how things work. But I like the way they work.

Motul 7100 for a bike is like having a spring water at 3000ft. It's freshness all the way down to the bottom, not that down ya...

Mok Motor at night. Close shop depends on customer, usually till 9pm. Most of Mok customer hang out here till 10-11pm. Including me that day. Mok usually hang out with them for a chit chat and getting to know them better. Essential for businesses like this and it's the main key. Peoples talk, like me, and when you're good to people, people always recommend you for other businesses. Way to go Mok. Keep it up.
